President's Letter: Hurricane Florence

Dear Campus Community:

As Hurricane Florence approaches, I want to assure all of you that University staff and administrators are taking the necessary and appropriate steps to prepare for the potential outcomes.

While we have closed the University through Sunday, personnel will stay in close contact with public safety officials from the Commonwealth of Virginia and the city of Norfolk. In addition, a small group of us will remain on campus to monitor and take whatever actions we can.

Your best bet to stay informed will be to view the University home page or our various social media outlets.

There is no doubt that Hurricane Florence poses a severe threat to life and property. I urge all members of the Monarch community to be careful regardless of where you are during the storm. Your safety is first and foremost.

Sincerely,

John R. Broderick
President
