Old Dominion University Named One of Nation’s Top Employers

The business publication Forbes has ranked Old Dominion University among the nation's top 200 "midsize employers" for 2017.

Old Dominion ranked No. 185 on Forbes' list of the 300 best midsize employers with 1,000 to 5,000 workers. The university also ranked fourth among Virginia employers on the list.

President John R. Broderick said the prestigious ranking reflects the diverse, inclusive community created by all Old Dominion employees.

"This is a great honor for Old Dominion University, but frankly it's recognition for our faculty, staff and administrators who passionately strive to make this institution a great place to work," President Broderick said.

"Our commitment to fostering a dynamic learning community with an array of cultures and experiences is a huge part of who we are as a community."

For its rankings, Forbes worked with statistics firm Statista to examine data from a survey of 30,000 U.S. employees.

Forbes also compiled a list of America's 500 "best employers," which have more than 5,000 employees.
