Celebrity Chef to Host Broderick Dining Commons Event

Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine will visit Old Dominion University's Kate and John R. Broderick Dining Commons on Saturday, Oct. 21, as part of ODU's Family Weekend activities.

Irvine has been featured on multiple Food Network shows including "Restaurant: Impossible" and "Worst Cooks in America." He currently stars on "The Robert Irvine Show" on the CW network.

Irvine will host a meet and greet at the Broderick Dining Commons from 12-1 p.m., and a cooking demonstration from 1-2 p.m. for members of the University community. Access to the Broderick Dining Commons during the event is limited to paid dining patrons, including students with Monarch Dining meal swipe cards, and family weekend participants displaying the official University lanyard.

The restaurateur behind such recognized eateries as Fresh Kitchen and Public House is known as much for his commitment to health as he is for his cuisine.

Irvine was selected as one of the "25 Fittest Guys in America" by Men's Fitness magazine in 2007. In 2015, he published "Fit Fuel: A Chef's Guide to Eating Well." In it he details the recipes and workouts he uses to satisfy both fitness goals and his palate.

Chef Irvine has a particular draw to the Hampton Roads area: The Robert Irvine Foundation, which was established in 2014, supports individuals and organizations committed to enriching the lives of military personnel and their families.
