CoVaBIZ Nominates ODU Alumni and Employees for 2017 ‘Millennials on the Move’

The Business Magazine of Coastal Virginia recently nominated five Old Dominion alumni and two employees for the 2017 'Millennials on the Move.'
The University employee nominees include Bo Ram Yi, instructor and coordinator for Student Success and Outreach; and Mallory Tuttle, program manager for the Strome Entrepreneurial Center.
Yi joined the University in 2010 as a graduate assistant. She holds a master's degree in public administration and a Ph.D. in international studies from Old Dominion. Yi has held several other positions at ODU including internship coordinator, Board of Visitors student representative and assistant to the vice president of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services.
She also worked as a development committee member for Samaritan House and was the co-founder and advisor to ODU Young professionals. Currently, Yi works with Global Shapers Norfolk which is a group of young professionals who are committed to making an impact in the community.
"It was an honor to be selected and it's exciting to be part of such a great millennial cohort," Yi said. "I think it's wonderful to see fellow millennials who are so dedicated to their careers, passions and civic engagements."
Tuttle, who joined the University in 2017, holds a B.S. in recreation leadership from Ferrum College and an M.S. in hospitality and tourism management from Virginia Tech. She currently serves as chair of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce's young professionals group, tHRive. Tuttle is also a member of the Portsmouth Service League, a network of women who have a passion for volunteering and making a difference.
"I am very honored and humbled to have been selected as a CoVaBIZ 'Millennial on the Move.' Each of the individuals honored in our cohort have achieved great success and continue to work hard to advance both in the Coastal Virginia region and their careers," Tuttle said. "I am thankful to be a part of this diverse and extraordinary group of millennials. It feels great to be in good company with so many fellow Monarchs."
To be selected as a 'Millennial on the Move,' CoVaBIZ held an online nomination period. Honorees were chosen by the publication's editorial staff, with focus on identifying individuals who exemplify success in their professions while also working within the community to advance the region as a whole.
ODU'S alumni nominees include:
- Ashley Smith, WVEC anchor and reporter, graduated from Old Dominion with a B.S. in communications in 2010;
- Bob Sinclair, Jr., general manager of Sinclair Communications, graduated with a B.S. in communications in 2008;
- Jillian Goodwin, director of marketing and communications for the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, graduated from ODU with a B.S. in communications in 2015;
- Pratik Kothari, founder and CEO of TechArk Solutions, graduated with a M.S. in computer science in 2006; and
- Kaitlin Burket, development manager for the Virginia Beach Library Foundation, graduated with a master's in public administration in 2014.
