Literary Festival: Tim Seibles to Speak Sept. 27

Old Dominon University professor Tim Seibles, who was recently named Virginia's poet laureate, will speak at 8 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 27 at the University's 39th Annual Literary Festival.

Seibles will substitute for Israeli writer Etgar Keret, who canceled his appearance because of a minor car accident, said Michael Pearson, University Professor of Creative Writing and co-director of the festival.

Seibles, a professor of English, joined the faculty of Old Dominion in 1995. He was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2012. "As a poet and teacher, I have always wanted to show people that poetry can have a vital place in their lives," he said.

Seibles will appear at the Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries, at 4509 Monarch Way.
