Full Afternoon Set for Physics Open House on March 19
March 04, 2016
Budding scientists and their families are encouraged to enjoy a fun afternoon of physics activities at Old Dominion University's annual Physics Open House on Saturday, March 19.
Events are scheduled at the Oceanography and Physics Building, the Pretlow Planetarium, and the Mills Godwin Life Sciences Building from 1 to 5 p.m.
Activities will include full-dome planetarium shows, research laboratory tours, hands-on physics experiments, as well as an hour-long live demonstration show.
The open house is free and open to anyone. Free parking also is available in Garage A on the corner of Elkhorn Ave. and 43rd St.
The afternoon is suitable for all age groups, and a science background isn't necessary to enjoy the experiments and demonstrations.
The Physics Open House is sponsored by Old Dominion's acclaimed Department of Physics. ODU is the largest research partner at the Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News.
RSVPs for the open house are not required but are appreciated at the physics department website.
