ODU Advisors to Receive NACADA Awards

A pair of Old Dominion University advisors will be honored with awards this month from the National Academic Advising Association.
Jeffery Toussaint, a lecturer in the sociology and criminology department; and Tania Alvarez, coordinator of transfer advising and articulations, were selected to receive the Excellence in Advising - Faculty Advisor award and Jeff Gardner Memorial Scholarship award, respectively.
The awards will be presented at the NACADA Region 2 conference March 16-18 at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in East Hyattsville, Maryland.
The Excellence in Advising - Faculty Advisor award is given in recognition of the recipients demonstrated abilities as a talented faculty advisor in the region. The Jeff Gardner Memorial Scholarship is given in recognition of the recipient's involvement in NACADA and potential for region and association leadership roles, according to the organization
