ODU Welcomes New Fire Safety Engineer

Greg Wooldridge, Old Dominion's new Fire Safety Engineer, brings to the University 33 years of experience with the City of Norfolk Fire-Rescue Department, 18 of which were spent in fire prevention as a member of the Norfolk Fire Marshal's Office.
Wooldridge, working through the Office of Emergency Management, is responsible for developing and administering all aspects of ODU's fire and life safety programs.
During his career, Wooldridge served as a Virginia State Certified Fire Code Inspector, Virginia State Certified Fire Investigator and a Virginia Law Enforcement Officer for Fire Marshals. His resume includes hundreds of fire code compliance inspections of all occupancy types, numerous fire origin and cause investigations, a host of environmental crime investigations and frequent court testimony as a subject matter expert in the field. Most recently, he served as Eastern Virginia Medical School's Fire and Life Safety Specialist, where he coordinated and maintained all fire and life safety systems, implemented policies and procedures regarding same and provided requisite training to all EVMS employees.
A highly respected member of the local fire safety community, Wooldridge said he is looking forward to serving the University by promoting, educating and training students, staff and faculty in proper fire and life safety with the goal of enhancing communication, coordination and collaboration.
