University Village Bookstore Event Celebrates Birthday of Dr. Seuss

The University Village Bookstore will celebrate the birthday of children's author Theodor Geisel with its annual Cat in the Hat program on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10a.m. -12p.m.

The event, which also supports the national children's literacy initiative "Read Across America," will be held in the bookstore, across the street from the Baron & Ellin Gordon Art Galleries.

Various readings will feature faculty members from the Child Learning Resource Center as well as REACH: Reading Enriches All Children - a local volunteer reading organization, based in Norfolk. In addition, students from faculty member Patti Edwards' art education group will offer activities and games at the Art Gallery, including face painting, balloons, birthday cupcakes and an appearance by the Cat in the Hat.

Parking is free in Garage D on 45th St across from the Village Bookstore. For more information, call 423-2308.
