ODU Surpasses Fundraising Campaign Goal
January 29, 2015
Old Dominion's participation in the annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) has concluded with the University reaching its $115,000 goal.
In just over three months, members of the campus community pledged $115,222 in support to local United Way agencies, as well as a host of other area, state, national and international charitable organizations. "Virginia is for Givers" was the theme for the campaign.
In all, 594 Old Dominion employees pledged donations to the campaign that launched Oct. 1, 2014. Participation peaked during the week of Dec. 15 when 119 Old Dominion employees pledged more than $22,000.
Karen Meier, ODU assistant vice president for community engagement, lead the campaign. At the launch, she said there is no greater way to contribute to the community.
"When you donate to the campaign, you have the opportunity to make a difference for a cause you believe in," she said.
