Sport Management Program Hosts Cornhole Fundraiser

With tailgating season a few months away, the competitors may be out of practice. But enthusiasts of the beanbag toss game are invited to take part in "Cornhole for a Cause," a charity fund-raising tournament hosted by Old Dominion University's Sport Management program.

The event will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at ODU's Student Recreation Center at 4700 Powhatan Avenue. Pre-registration for the tournament is $10, and it is $15 to sign up the day of the event. Proceeds from the event will go to the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research.

"It is a perfect opportunity to help raise money for cancer research and enjoy the game of cornhole," said Alex Hojnicki, lead organizer of the Sport Management sponsorship and a student in the event management class that is hosting the event. "We look forward to seeing you there!"

Once registration is complete, competition will begin, with teams of two competing in a double-knockout format. The winning team will receive $50 gift cards, along with a trophy. Prizes will be raffled off throughout the day.
