Groundbreaking Technologies, Research to Be Featured at ODU Peninsula Center Open House

The groundbreaking technologies of Old Dominion University's Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology and Department of Computer Science - along with the research of several leading companies in visioning future technologies - will be on display at an open house Thursday, Oct. 3, at the ODU's Peninsula Higher Education Center in Hampton.
The all-day event at the center, located at 600 Butler Farm Road, includes interactive demonstrations and short presentations of the immersive 3-D learning technologies that are changing how society learns, teaches, trains workers and does business.
Ahmed Noor, William E. Lobeck Professor of Modeling, Simulation and Visualization Engineering at ODU, has garnered worldwide acclaim for work in advanced engineering environments, and will demonstrate these future technologies at the event.
Other sponsors and presenters include technology and research companies such as VGo Robotic, EON Reality, RoboMetrix, zSPACE and Stanford Research International.
Noor is a frequent author and lecturer on the characteristics of the world's forthcoming "intelligence and convergence" era, where future complex adaptive systems will have implications for virtual product creation in myriad ways, advancing technologies through ODU's Center for Advanced Engineering Environments.
At the Oct. 3 open house, Noor and his colleagues will demonstrate - through immersive, interactive simulations - how visionary learners are incorporating creativity and innovation into developing future technologies.
