Benefit for Clean Water Systems Is Oct. 18

The Environmental Engineering Student Association at Old Dominion University invites anyone interested in sustainable clean water systems for the peoples of emerging countries to a Cork and Tap Benefit on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Norfolk Botanical Garden.

The event, sponsored by the Virginia section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Virginia Water Environment Association (VWEA), will be from 6 to 9 p.m. It will feature light foods and selections from Virginia wineries Chateau Morrisette and Veritas, as well as from Norfolk's O'Connor Brewing Company.

Proceeds go to the Water For People initiative, which helps underdeveloped countries create sustainable drinking water systems and sanitation facilities.
