Atajo 4.0 CD-ROM: Writing Assistant for Spanish (CD-ROM)

This Spanish-language site has what it describes as useful, day-to-day information, including articles, maps, photographs, and a list of world capitals. Articles focus on events occurring that day, such as an article about The United Nations General Assembly's commemoration of the "World Day of Social Justice," which took place on February 20, 2015. Dictionaires:

The Visual Dictionary combines definitions with illustrations and is searchable by 17 themes that include art and architecture, food, society, sports and games, and science. A section on the virtual human body was recently added.

La Real Academia Española is a Spanish dictionary that provides definitions of words in their different contexts, their grammatical category, example sentences, and conjugations for verbs in all their tenses. Their forum for frequently asked questions covers advance Spanish topics that range from discussions of the phonemes of certain words to inquiries of certain grammar rules.

The Academia Mexicana de la Lengua website has dictionaries and other reference material, Mexican proverbs, and a series of columns written by Joseph Moreno de Alba, the acting director.

Acceso is an interactive curriculum for intermediate-level learners of Spanish (provided free). The University of Kansas Collaborative Digital Spanish Project (Acceso) is an open-access, digital learning environment designed to promote the acquisition of Spanish and the development of cultural understanding of the varied groups of people who share Spanish as a common language.

Culture:

The Mundo Latino website has videos, animated shorts, articles, humor, and poetry. There is also a section with resources for children.

The Cervantes Virtual Center website was created by the Institute Cervantes to help spread the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. To achieve that mission, it provides materials and services for Spanish teachers, students, translators, and others interested in Spanish language and culture. Spanish for Children:

The Milcuentos site has children's stories in Spanish and with sound. Some stories are very familiar, such as "Thumbelina," "The Three Little Pigs," "Little Red Riding Hood," and "Peter and the Wolf."
