MIDAS Group Management

MIDAS groups are collections of users and groups in MIDAS that can be used for mailing lists, network file system access or system permissions. MIDAS typically pushes these groups out to systems like Active Directory, Monarch-Key and other systems for group access to file shares and websites.

Membership Types

Each MIDAS Group can have four different kinds of members:

Member

These are people or groups who are actually in the group. Being a member of a group actually means you are in the group.

Administrator

These are people or groups who can manage the members of a group. They are not actually "Members" of the group, just simply those who are responsible for maintaining the membership.

Owner

This is the person responsible for the group. Owners can assign members and administrators as they wish. Owners receive a notification of group membership once a year. Every group must have an Owner.

Auditor

Auditors can view members and administrators of the group, but cannot make any changes.

Request a MIDAS Group

When you request a network share or email group, a MIDAS group is automatically created. You can request additional groups to help manage larger groups by emailing itshelp@odu.edu.
