Dear Monarch Community:

On behalf of the Executive Policy Team, I am sharing the latest updates regarding our return to a comprehensive on-campus experience.

As we continue to prioritize the health and well-being of all Monarchs, we strongly encourage you to sign up for a vaccine today to protect yourself and those around you. In Hampton Roads, everyone, 16 and older, is now eligible to get vaccinated. To find a COVID-19 vaccine appointment, go to https://vaccinefinder.org/ or follow the latest local news.

Summer Sessions will be held mostly online. Summer registration is now open at odu.edu/academics/summer.

This fall, as we return to our regular on-campus, online and hybrid instruction modes, we will continue to uphold the latest health and safety guidelines. We would like to remind employees and students who are sick to remain home.

In preparation for fall, we will continue returning employees back to campus. COVID-19 telework agreements will expire on Friday, June 25 and employees are expected back to campus no later than Monday, June 28. Telework agreements in place prior to the pandemic will not be recalled; however, supervisors are urged to submit new telework agreements for these employees to ensure that the most accurate telework arrangements are on file with the Department of Human Resources. Please submit updated telework agreements electronically to the Department of Human Resources at HRRecruitment@odu.edu. This fall, we will assess the campus environment and make any adjustments based on continuity of services and the health, safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff.

Supervisors must complete the Covid-19 Work Hazard Assessment for employees prior to their return to campus. Please direct questions regarding this assessment to the Department of Human Resources at HRcompclass@odu.edu.

Guidelines for fall instruction will be announced by July 1. As we did last year, the Executive Policy Team is preparing for a variety of scenarios to quickly respond to changing conditions. On-campus research-related activities will continue to operate according to their established procedures.

Employees who need special accommodations may continue to submit their requests through the Office of Institutional Equity & Diversity.

In the coming weeks, we will provide more updates about our operational plans. Should you have further questions, feel free to email HRCOVID19@odu.edu. In the meantime, please continue to complete your daily COVID-19 check-ins and to #ReignResponsibly.

Sincerely,

September Sanderlin, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, HRPM
