Day of Teaching: Join Us on Friday for Breakfast, Discussions & Workshops
By Annette Finley-Croswhite and Tomeka Wilcher
On Friday, Sept. 17, the Center for Faculty Development will hold its first "Day of Teaching" to offer professional development opportunities for instructors at all ranks.
The Day of Teaching begins with events in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies Multipurpose Auditorium, Room 1106. There will be a light breakfast from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m., after which Kate Hawkins, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, will offer an opening welcome. Her address will be followed at 9 a.m. by a face-to-face panel discussion, "Lessons Learned From the Pandemic: The Challenges of Teaching During the Surge of COVID-19."
Zoom sessions follow throughout the day, offering instructional faculty a variety of topics and times to engage in sessions focused on many aspects of pedagogy.
The full list of sessions is below. It is our hope at the Center for Faculty Development that these Day of Teaching conversations will offer reflective spaces to explore what we do (or might do) in the classroom and how we can better prepare our students for success.
The Center for Faculty Development wishes to thank all of the presenters who are offering their time to make the Day of Teaching a success.
