- Description
- The teaching of writing helps students prepare to communicate in their discipline and related careers. Many ODU instructors teach writing across the campus––in “W” courses, in the English composition sequence, as assignments in disciplinary courses, in creative writing classes and in other courses. And some of these courses are taught online. Just as Interdisciplinary Writing (IDW) at ODU has taught faculty across campus the distinctive approaches to writing instruction and assessment, online writing instruction is also unique. The Center for Faculty Development, the Center for Global Engagement, and Quality Enhancement Plan Initiatives (Improving Disciplinary Writing and Critical Reading) are partnering with the sponsorship of ODU Global to endorse the Certification Course from the Global Society of Online Literacy Educators. This opportunity is the first of several professionalization opportunities that ODU Global will offer or sponsor to support individual faculty member’s preparation of various teaching methods for their online classes. We welcome you to a virtual Open House to introduce interested faculty to this professional development opportunity to be held on December 7 from 12-1PM and January 12 from 12:30-1:30PM. You can find general information about GSOLE on their home page. And information about the Certification Course can be found at https://gsole.org/certification.
