Dr. Hamid EisaZadeh joined Old Dominion University (ODU) in Fall 2018. Before joining ODU, he was a faculty member at the County College of Morris and the Chabahar Maritime University for one year and four years, respectively. Dr. EisaZadeh received his Ph.D. (2017) in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University in New York and an MSc and BS degrees in Manufacturing Engineering from Tehran University and Mazandaran University. He has over fifteen years of research and teaching experience in mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering technology areas.

His work involves studying residual stress formation and mitigation in dissimilar weld and additive manufacturing using finite element modeling and neutron diffraction measurement. He has studied and practiced various modern techniques to mitigate weld residual stresses and their consequences. He has presented at several conferences, and co-authored papers on reducing residual stress in dissimilar welds and 3D printed parts.

Currently, Dr. EisaZadeh's research focuses are 3D printing of various materials, thermoset and thermoplastic, biomaterial, natural material, ceramics, and dissimilar material joining techniques.

He teaches courses related to materials, manufacturing processes, welding processes, 3D printing (additive manufacturing). Please visit his faculty website to learn more about his current teaching and research works.

Research Interests

Material behavior under extreme environments: Additive manufacturing of large structures made of various materials, residual stress formation, computational simulation of manufacturing.

In-situ strain and stress distributions: Transient strain in traditional and modern manufacturing processes, residual stress reduction techniques using in-situ and ex-situ methods.
