AFOSR grant awarded for fundamental research on plasma sources

Professor Chunqi Jiang
Professor Chunqi Jiang received a five-year award from AFOSR to conduct fundamental studies of nanosecond-pulsed plasma sources and understand the underlying physics and physicochemistry of the plasma. This project will continue enabling and enhancing the educational experience of the students and researchers at the Center for Bioelectrics Plasma and Pulsed Power Laboratory, directed by Dr. Jiang, for low-temperature plasma research. Nanosecond-pulsed plasma sources are the front runners for a broad range of applications including chemical synthesis, environmental remediation, wastewater treatment, and cancer therapy. Fundamental understanding of the plasma sources is vital to the success of these important and exciting applications.
