Emergency Preparedness Exercise at ODU Soccer Stadium/Parking Lot 43 this Thursday, June 8

On Thursday, June 8 from approximately 6:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., the Virginia Army National Guard will be conducting an outdoor emergency preparedness training exercise at the ODU Soccer Stadium on West 43^rd Street. The western section of Lot 43 will also be used for training operations and vehicle staging.

This training is designed to test team response to a simulated hazardous materials incident. The scenario may include the release of smoke that poses no danger to the public. Some exercise participants may wear full hazardous materials protective equipment as they practice their response to the incident scenario. “Training Exercise in Progress” signage will be posted at all exercise locations, and ODU Emergency Management staff will be on site to monitor and provide support as needed.

Again, no hazardous conditions will be present during this exercise, and no impact to campus operations is expected. In the event of a real-world emergency, messaging will be issued via the ODU Alerts system.
