ODURep presents ALICE

Follow the rabbit!

ALICE is a modern, Southern, all-American re-imagination, written by Lee Smith and directed by Katherine Hammond. Skye Zentz, Norfolk’s own troubadour, adds to the fun with her sparkly sensibility, music and lyrics throughout.

Only very loosely based on Lewis Carroll’s tales, ALICE follows a young woman through a world she doesn’t recognize, and doesn’t have the knowledge or skills to navigate. As her life becomes “curiouser and curiouser,” she learns to believe in the impossible, in herself, and in her own “muchness.” And setting it during New Orleans’ Mardi Gras, with dancing seagulls, Gator Golf, and a pesky Cajun Cheshire Cat/Catfish, gives this delightful new play a rollicking and quirky flavor that is entertainment for all ages.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

ALICE will be onstage at 7:30 pm Wednesdays-Saturdays April 5-8 and 12-15, with matinees at 2:00 on both Saturdays, April 8 and 15. Tickets are $15 from ODUArtsTix.com or the Box Office, 683-5305. Group rates of $10 may be arranged for 15+ through Greg Larson, Box Office Manager, at 683-5746.
