- On Thursday, September 12th from 4-6PM at the Strome Entrepreneurial Center, UK-based social entrepreneur Nathaniel Peat will speak and field questions related to his efforts at "social disruption" in the private sector. Nathaniel Peat is the co-founder of GeNNex Solar, an award winning renewable energy company that has operations in Africa and the Caribbean. He is also the founder of the multi-award winning social enterprise The Safety Box, which works with at-risk youth to develop leadership and problem-solving skills and counter the negative impact of bullying and gang-violence. In 2016 Peat was ranked 17th on the Financial Times' list of Upstanding Top 100 black executives in USA, UK, and Ireland. This event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. The event is organized by the Institute for the Humanities at ODU, the Strome Entrepreneurial Center, and Humanities Alumni, Eleanor Earl, an Assistant Professor at Hampton University and Executive Producer of The View from Hampton U.
