Transfer Mentors

More Information about this image

Webb University Center

If you transferred to ODU from another institution, you should consider connecting with a mentor or serving as one if you are a second year ODU transfer student!

  • Transfer mentors serve as a connecting link between mentees and academic/career opportunities on-/off-campus
  • Transfer mentors are peer leaders who model the academic, personal, and social qualities associated with college-level success
  • Transfer mentors act as a learning coach to assist mentees in developing successful academic and goal-setting behaviors
  • Transfer mentors serve as a trusted friend who can understand the transfer student experience at Old Dominion University

The peer mentor opportunity is a volunteer experience for students who want to help encourage, support, and guide students through their ODU experience with an emphasis on promoting collegiate-level academic success.

Tobi Olayinka

Year: Junior | Major: Cybersecurity

My name is Tobi Olayinka, I am a junior majoring in cybersecurity here at ODU I transferred her from NVCC where I received my associates degree in cyber security. The moment I came to ODU I became aware of all the opportunities that were right in front of me and I intend to take advantage of as many as I can, ODU being one of 21 schools in the country to receive a national center of academic excellence in cyber operations designations from the national security agency. I hope it will allow me to go further in my career and my academics. Some of the things I love to do is play football (soccer) table tennis and I love meeting new people. I would recommend ODU and that you check out all the amazing resources at the transfer center to Cybersecurity Student Association.
