Delegates from Thailand Visit MonarchTeach
On Monday, June 9, a group of delegates from Thailand came to meet with MonarchTeach. The purpose of their visit was to learn about best practices in teaching mathematics and science. The group is from the Office of the Basic Education Commission, which is part of the Ministry of Education in Thailand.
While they were here, Dr. Baskette led a presentation on the goals and development of both UTeach and MonarchTeach. This was followed by a demo lesson led by Mrs. Janeen Perry-Campbell and Mrs. Kelley Clark. The lesson involved the marshmallow challenge, which demonstrated the essential components of effective problem solving.
After the lesson, the guests presented a gift of thanks to codirectors Dr. Mary Enderson and Dr. Rich Whittecar, as well as to Dr. Baskette, Mrs. Clark, and Mrs. Perry-Campbell. From Norfolk, the delegates headed to a conference in Washington DC for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
