Thirty-one Navy, Army and Marine Corps ROTC students from four universities (Old Dominion, Hampton, Norfolk State and Regent) became officers at ODU's annual Spring Commissioning Ceremony. The event, which features new Army and Marine Corps 2nd lieutenants and Navy ensigns giving their first salute, was held in Chartway Arena at the Ted Constant Convocation Center as part of ODU's commencement activities. Old Dominion University hosted Grassfield High School's STEM class on May 25 to wrap up the Code4Pizza Challenge. The competition allowed students to earn pizza parties for their high schools by completing a coding game to build a virtual pizza. The goal was to expose students to the creative side of computer science and electrical engineering. Grassfield tied for second with Kellam High School. Meridian High School in Falls Church won the competition.
