Student Government Association to Host Norfolk Mayoral Forum
April 07, 2016
Old Dominion University's Student Government Association (SGA) will host an open forum for Norfolk mayoral candidates on Wednesday, April 13 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Big Blue Room, with the forum to follow at 7 p.m.
The candidates in the May 3 election are state Senator Kenny Alexander, Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe and Norfolk City Councilman Andy Protogyrou. They are seeking to succeed Paul Fraim, the city's mayor since 1994, who announced last fall that he would not run for re-election.
SGA President Chris Ndiritu will introduce the candidates and Jesse Richman, associate professor of political science and geography at Old Dominion, will serve as moderator of the one-hour forum.
A panel of four Old Dominion students also will attend to ask questions of the candidates. SGA President-Elect Rachael Edmonds will close the forum after the candidates take questions from the audience.
The forum is open to the public. Parking is available in Garage C on the corner of 43rd St. and Hampton Blvd.
