Old Dominion University is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research - Extensive university with more than 20,000 students located in Norfolk, Va. The university has six colleges – Arts and Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences and Science – and offers 66 bachelor's, 67 master's and 23 doctoral degrees.

Old Dominion boasts a diverse student body, including 1,400 international students from 108 countries, and nearly 85,000 alumni in all 50 states and 72 countries.

This year, ODU enrolled a record number of freshmen with academic distinction and the university counts among its recent student honors a Rhodes Scholar, a Truman Scholar and two USA Today All Academics.

From cancer research to space, Old Dominion scientists are pushing new frontiers and faculty are gaining accolades. The university has had 13 Outstanding Faculty Award winners from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, numerous Fulbright Award winners and acknowledgment of several professional societies.

Its TELETECHNET distance learning network, the largest interactive, televised program in the country, offers full degree programs to more than 50 sites in Virginia and about a dozen sites in eight other states.

Athletics are also an integral part of Old Dominion. A member of the Colonial Athletic Association, the university has 16 intercollegiate teams that have won 25 team and four individual national championships and is nationally known for its field hockey, lacrosse and sailing programs. The men's and women's basketball teams opened their season recently in their new home, the state-of-the-art Ted Constant Convocation Center.
