Transform boundaries

Two plates side laterally past one another. Transform boundaries do not differ between continental and oceanic crust. Usually there is little or no evidence that a plate boundary exists, although in some areas there may be a fault visible on the surface.

Geographic Features: None or sometimes an earthquake scar

Geologic Effects: Extensive earthquake activity

Example: San Andreas Fault
