STUDENT EVALUATION CRITERIA
Evaluation is based on five written examinations (for a total of 100% of the final grade) that are designed to reflect the knowledge base of the five units. Extra credit assignments and/or pop quizzes may be given at the discretion of the instructor and will be announced in class.
Optional paper
Students may opt to write a research paper on a specific topic discussed in this course or in Exercise Physiology I. The grade on this paper will replace the lowest unit exam score and will then be averaged into the final grade calculated from four exams and the paper. The student must clear the topic with the instructor by submitting the title of the research paper and short summaries and references of five current research articles focusing on the chosen topic. The final paper should include 20 or more references, the majority of which must be original research articles (no more than 3 “review” articles are allowed).
The date for approval of optional paper topics is one month prior to the end of classes. The final date for submitting optional papers is one week prior to the scheduled end of classes.
