Introduction
This course is the first part of two sequential courses designed to provide detailed coverage of the physiological responses and adaptations to acute and chronic exercise.Following a brief overview of cellular physiology, the major focus of this first course is on the energy and metabolic aspects of exercise, neurological control of exercise, the physiology of muscle contraction, endocrine control of exercise, and respiratory aspects related to exercise. The second course is EXSC427, Exercise Physiology II.

Educational Opportunities
The general instructional mode will be a lecture format. Questions are welcome at any time during the class lecture. Key videos may be used to demonstrate certain physiological principles of exercise. Some in-class laboratory demonstrations may be conducted as appropriate.
