STUDENT EVALUATION CRITERIA
Evaluation is based on five written examinations (16.7% each for a total of 83.3%, or 5/6, of the final grade) that are designed to reflect the knowledge base of the five units. Extra credit assignments and/or pop quizzes may be given at the discretion of the instructor and will be announced in class.
In addition, the final 16.7% (1/6) of the grade will be based on ten (10) completed summaries (worth 5 points each) of original, published research pertaining to a topic of your choice in exercise physiology. Published articles will be reviewed and summarized following the scientific method. To accomplish this, students will select original research articles from reputable journals pertaining to their chosen topic. These articles can be obtained from the ODU Perry Library, through interlibrary loan, from the EVMS library in Lewis Hall, or off the Internet as long as the entire article (not just the abstract) is available. A copy of each article and a 1-2 page typed summary must be turned in for each article for full credit.
Completed article summaries can be turned in at any time during the semester, but all ten are due no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled end of class. NO EXCEPTIONS!
