Carbon Nanoparticles Project
A current trend toward incorporating carbon nanoparticles in everything from cosmetics to truck tires has created a need to understand how these particles behave when released into the environment. We are currently looking at the oxidation of fullerenes and derivatized fullerenes to understand the biological fate of these particles in humans. Our future goals include studying the environmental fate and effects of released carbon nanoparticles, and the health effects of functionalized nanoparticles designed for pharmaceutical products.
