Jordan Turner
HS Research InternOcean Lakes High School
Jordan joined our lab as a senior intern from Ocean Lakes High School. Her research centers on the composition of lab-generated smoke particulates. She has created controlled smoke samples from peat and pine straw for comparison with samples from a recent wild-land fire at the Great Dismal Swamp. Jordan has already submitted her research to the Siemens Foundation Math and Science competition, and presented her research at the 3rd Annual Gathering of Local Chemistry Departments and Undergraduate Poster Session, hosted by our undergraduate chemistry club and the Hampton Roads local section of the ACS. Jordan is currently preparing her research for publication.
