Dr. Lee is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Old Dominion University. Her area of expertise includes parent involvement, reading program assessment, diagnostic reading, diversity, parent involvement, and emergent reading. She was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. After she completed her Bachelor’s degree, she moved to the United States of America to pursue her graduate education. Dr.
Lee earned the Master’s degree from Chicago State University
in 1990 and the Ph. D. degree from the University of Minnesota
in 1993 in the area of Literacy and Early Childhood Education. |
She has taught undergraduate and graduate literacy education and early childhood education courses for 11 years in the Unites States of America. Prior to teach at Old Dominion University, she has taught at several colleges in the Republic of Korea and at Murray State University in Kentucky as well as young children in Chicago. Dr. Lee has published over 25 articles in national and international professional journals in the field of reading and multicultural education and has made numerous presentations at international, national, regional, state, and local conferences. Currently, Dr. Lee serves the Second Language Literacy and Learning Commission at IRA (International Reading Association), publication reviewer for CRA (College Reading Association) and ARF (American Reading Forum), and the International/Intercultural Committee at ACEI (Association for Childhood Education International). She has also served the World Organization of Early Childhood Education (OMEP) as newsletter editor and as a board member. |
