EVALUATION

Final grades will be based upon the total points obtained on all requirements for the course. Grades will be determined using the following percentage scale (total of 300 points).

Midterm Exam

The midterm exam will be based upon the lectures, discussions, readings, and video programs. The exam will consist of an essay question and short answer questions. Be mindful of the exam date. Students will have the opportunity to make up the midterm exam without a penalty if they can provide good cause otherwise a penalty will be assessed.  The make-up exam might be substantially different from the regularly scheduled exams.

Notice 1: If your cell phone goes off during the exam, 5 points will be deducted from the exam. You have been warned!

Notice 2: The make-up exam will take place in the Learning Assessment Center, first floor, in the Gorto Building next tp BAL.

Saturday is the only day for make-up exams at the Learning Assessment Lab. It is your responsibility to contact the Center to make an appointment (see appointment procedure below). You must take the make-up exam no later than one week after the scheduled exam (unless you can provide a reasonable explanation why you need to take the make-up exam at a later time).  My advice:  take the make up exam sooner rather than later.

To schedule an appointment:

  1. Go on-line at http://clt.odu.edu/lal/.  Click "Saturday only make-up exams" and complete the on-line form
  2. Print out your approved registraton receipt and bring it with you on your exam day
  3. Register no later than Thursday for the following Saturday
  4. Make up exams are scheduled for 8 am to 1 pm
  5. Make sure you arrive at least one hour prior to closing time on Saturday

Note:  if you have any problems registering online, visit the Learning Assessment Lab in person.

Comment about attendance:  Regular class attendance is expected for all students.  If you miss six (6) classes, your final grade will drop one-step (e.g., a B- becomes a C+).  If you miss nine (9) or more classes, your final grade will drop two-steps (e.g., an A becomes a B+).

Note:  Arriving on time is expected as well.  Severe tardiness will result in a one-step reduction in your final grade.
