EVALUATION

Final grades will be based upon the total points obtained on all requirements for the course. Grades will be determined using the following percentage scale (total of 300 points). Midterm Exam The midterm exam will be based upon the lectures, discussions, readings, and news programs. The exam will consist of an essay question and short answer questions. Be mindful of the exam date. Students will have the opportunity to make up the midterm exam without a penalty if they can provide good cause otherwise 5 points will be deducted from the final midterm score.  The make-up exam might be substantially different from the regularly scheduled exam. Notice 1: If your smart phone goes off during the exam, 5 points will be deducted from the exam. You have been warned! Notice 2:  Location for make up exam....TBA Comment about attendance:  Regular class attendance is expected for all students.  If you miss six (6) classes, your final grade will drop one-half step (e.g., a B- becomes a C+).  If you miss nine (9) or more classes, your final grade will drop a full-step (e.g., an A becomes a B+).  Arriving on time is expected as well.  Severe tardiness (6 or more times)will result in a one-half step reduction in your final grade.  A  94-100  A-  90-93  B+  88-89  B  83-87  B-  80-82  C+  78-79  C  73-77  C-  70-72  D+  68-69  D  63-67  D-  60-62  F  59 and below Evaluation  Midterm Exam  100 points  Research Paper  100 points  Debating Reform Assignment     20 points  Research Paper Presentation     30 points  Public Policy Issues Quiz     50 points    300 points
