Congressional Delegation Announces Modeling and Simulation Grant Program
The Chairman of the Congressional Modeling and Simulation Caucus, Rep. Randy Forbes (above), teamed with fellow Hampton Roads leaders Rep. Thelma Drake and Rep. Bobby Scott on Tuesday, to announce passage of a $40 million grant program for modeling and simulation programs at institutions of higher education.

Israeli Scholar to Present Lecture at ODU
Shimon Shetreet, former cabinet member of the Israeli government and law professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, will give the Evelyn J. Kanter Endowed Lectureship in Interfaith Studies on "Building a Culture of Peace in Challenging Times" at Old Dominion University Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Future Women Engineers Learn School, Life Lessons During Internship
After a four-week summer internship, 15 engineering hopefuls will soon start their first year at Old Dominion University. The students took part in the Early Engineering Advantage Program for Women (eEAPw), which is designed to enhance future academic and career opportunities in engineering. ODU's IJIU Offers Free Minicourse in Jewish Studies
Old Dominion University's Institute for Jewish Studies and Interfaith Understanding, in partnership with the Simon Family Jewish Community Center, presents "ODU Learning Series: Back to College for Jewish Knowledge," four sessions of college-level workshops taught by ODU professors. The free workshops will be held Tuesday evenings starting Sept. 2 at the Reba and Sam Sandler Family Campus in Virginia Beach.

Donovan Leads U.S. Women's Basketball to Olympic Gold
Anne Donovan, a 1983 Old Dominion University graduate, led the U.S. women's basketball team to victory at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. The U.S. squad, which went into the final round against the previously undefeated Australians, came away with a decisive 92-65 blowout in the gold medal game on Saturday night at the Wukesong Arena.
