Alex Bochdansky, ODU Oceanographer, Wins $540,000 NSF Grant for Study of Deep-Sea Microbes
Old Dominion University oceanographer Alex Bochdansky has received a $540,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a three-year study of microbes that live in the deep oceans and how these tiny creatures may play a role in the oceans' reaction to climate change.

ODU Libraries Offers New Digital Collection of School Desegregation Materials
The Old Dominion University Libraries have a new digital collection, "School Desegregation in Norfolk, Virginia," documenting the "massive resistance" to desegregation following the Brown v. Board of Education ruling in 1954, which led to the closing of six Norfolk public schools and left 10,000 students out of school. Effective the Fall 2008 semester, the salary cap for all Tuition Assistance programs is increased to $89,000. The Fall 2008 semester deadline for all tuition assistance programs sponsored and administered by the Department of Human Resources is Friday, August 1, 2008.
