A four-day golf clinic teaching the basic fundamentals of the golf swing, chipping and putting will be offered this summer at Lambert's Point Golf Club.

Operation Smile, a worldwide children's charity network, held its annual Physician's Training Program in Norfolk this month. Doctors, nurses and other medical professionals from more than 28 countries attended the training program.

Origins: Selected Paintings by Fay Zetlin

Works by the late Fay Zetlin, a former Old Dominion University student and faculty member, are on exhibition until Aug. 3 at ODU's Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries. "Origins: Selected Paintings by Fay Zetlin," a mini retrospective of her work from 1959 to 1979, is testimony to the importance of her career, particularly since Abstract Expressionism is currently under reexamination.

ODU's Hatcher Appointed to New Virginia Commission on Energy and Environment

Patrick G. Hatcher, Old Dominion University's Batten Endowed Chair in Physical Sciences and executive director of the Virginia Coastal Energy Research Consortium (VCERC), has been appointed to the Virginia Commission on Energy and Environment that was created by the 2008 General Assembly.

New and Better Nanoparticles for Probes of Embryos Reported by Xu Research Group

The research group of Old Dominion University chemist and biochemist X. Nancy Xu has reported in the American Chemical Society journal, ACS Nano, its discovery of new ways to synthesize silver nanoparticles that are particularly well suited for complex probes of live zebra fish embryos.

Fall 2008 Tuition Assistance Deadline is Aug. 1

Effective the Fall 2008 semester, the salary cap for all Tuition Assistance programs is increased to $89,000. The Fall 2008 semester deadline for all tuition assistance programs sponsored and administered by the Department of Human Resources is Friday, August 1, 2008.
