About the Library

Multicultural Student Services offers a lending library with books on various cultural groups including the five that our office was created to support, and the selection is always expanding. Currently, we have over 1600 books available. Our collection includes novels, autobiographies, historical, cookbooks, etc. The library is divided into three locations. Most of the books regarding GLBT culture located in the GLBT Resource Center (2107 Webb University Center. Most of the books regarding African American/Black culture are located at the Hugo A. Owens African American Cultural Center (1417 W. 49th Street). The remaining books of varying topics is located in the Office of Multicultural Student Services (2109 Webb University Center).

Checking-Out Books

To check out books at MSS you will need to present your ODU ID and fill out a card found in the back of the book. Books may be checked out for two weeks.

VHS/DVD Collection

MSS houses one of the most extensive movie collections at Old Dominion University, and certainly one of the most diverse. Our collection includes topics than span many cultures and often challenge the audience to realize his or her own interpretation of what it means to be multicultural. MSS aims to bring greater insight about the human experience. They may not be checked out, but you can view them at either site. Please feel free to bring your lunch or snacks and enjoy.
