Richard V. Gregory, dean of the ODU College of Sciences, spoke at the spring banquet of the Sigma Xi science and engineering society, Tidewater Chapter, Friday, April 22nd, at Christopher Newport University in Newport News. Gregory, a 1980 chemistry graduate of ODU and former director of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University, returned to his alma mater as sciences dean in 2003. He has been a member of Sigma Xi since 1984.

Tarek Abdel-Fattah, assistant professor in the biology, chemistry and environmental sciences department at CNU and immediate past president of the Tidewater Chapter of Sigma Xi, said Gregory was asked to deliver the address because of his ability to "display scientific issues to general audiences."
