A time of good food, games and meeting new people!

                   10    Tyler Daniels-Hospitality
As we begin a new semester we meet lots of new people.  There will be lots of freshman and others coming through the doors of the BCM and we as a ministry welcome all.  Tyler will look at what it truly means to be welcoming, affirming and loving to all who walk through our doors.

Tyler is a recent BCM Alumni and ODU Grad.  He recently married the lovely Mindy, another BCM Alumni, and serves as Minister to Students at Indian River Baptist Church.  He is a talented and gifted speaker who always gives a great message.

17    Dr. Dan Bagby-Dealing with Difficult Relationships
Everywhere we go we meet difficult people.  They may be professors, students, roommates, faculty, family, friends or whoever.  Dr. Bagby will help us as we try to figure out what exactly we can do with these difficult relationships that can hinder not only our time at ODU but also our walk with God.

Professor Bagby has pastored for almost thirty years, served in two pastoral counseling centers, and as chaplain to a juvenile detention center and a women's prison. He is a frequent national speaker on pastoral care issues and has authored numerous articles and seven books including, Crisis Ministry: A Handbook and Beyond The Myths: The Journey To Adulthood (2007).

He has taught at Baylor University, Purdue University, and Southern Seminary, as well as for the International Mission Board’s Journeyman Training Program. He is the 2005 recipient of the Wayne Oates Award.  He is currently the Pastoral Care Professor at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond.

Both the contemporary American church and culture struggle with moral perspectives on homosexuality. How can one church use the Bible to be welcoming and affirming of gays and another to be staunchly against the behaviors? We'll take a brief, but fair, overview of all theological perspectives related to the issue.

Steve, a native of Shelby, N.C., has served as pastor to Freemason Street Baptist Church since November, 2002 after serving Baptist churches in both Virginia and North Carolina. Steve earned his BA and his PhD from North Carolina State University, and his Master's of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Between them, Steve and his wife Sandra have four children and two grandchildren.

Steve is warm, friendly, and has a delightful sense of humor and a knack for making the Bible come alive.
