IIWE’s History
EPF Ecole d'Ingénieurs, founded in 1925 as an exclusively womens' engineering school, became co-ed 1994. As the number of male students increased more rapidly than expected, in 1997 EPF resolved to preserve the school's traditional image as an institution that actively promotes women in engineering. This decision triggered EPF's International Services Department to evolve the concept of an international institute that would promote EPF's feminine ambitions worldwide.
The International Institute of Women in Engineering (IIWE) was officially launched in 2001. Take a look at our first five programs.

The IIWE network : we are happy to report that the IIWE network is indeed working. Between IIWE 2001 and IIWE 2002, there are now 188 IIWE student and staff alumni who are daily contacting one another worldwide. We wish them the best of luck in their industrial, academic, and personal exchanges.
Thanks to the two previous successes, we’re back again with IIWE 2006 which will take place from June 30 -July 21, 2006.

IIWE’s Future
IIWE's aspirations include welcoming different groups of women in engineering :
- Adolescents who are contemplating an engineering profession
- Students currently enrolled in engineering programs
- Confirmed women engineers wishing to brush up their international skills and network
- Confirmed women engineers who are re-entering the workforce
- HR officers interested in successfully managing women engineers
- Industries interested in recruiting women engineers locally or worldwide
