     These insurance and risk management-related companies have been active in coming to the ODU campus to speak to classes and clubs and recruiting ODU students for internships and full-time jobs.

Ø   GEICO

ü      GEICO has been recognized as a top employer for college graduates according to the Princeton Review and CollegeGrad.com.

ü      GEICO employs ODU graduates in various positions including:

  • Emerging Leaders Program (A rotational, fast-track management training program)
  • Product Manager Analyst (This person graduated from ODU in 2004 and is currently responsible for growth in VA and NC!)
  • Claims Supervisor
  • Powersports Sales Supervisor
  • Powersports Sales and Event Marketing 
  • Human Resources Manager
  • Human Resources Employment Specialist
  • Claims Investigator
  • Lost Policy Team Associate (A team working to identify at-risk policyholders and determine ways to better retain)

ü      ODU students have also been accepted into GEICO’s well respected  Summer Internship Program. 

ü      GEICO annually awards ODU students with the $1000 GEICO Achievement Award, which is presented to outstanding sophomores and juniors majoring in a Business related field of study. For details, contact JiStover@geico.com.

 

Ø      Northwestern Mutual Financial Network (NMFN)

ü   NMFN’s Internship Program

  • Northwestern Mutual Financial Network: America’s Top Ten Internships for Eleven Consecutive Years, 1997-2007. Vault Guide to Internships, 2007 edition.
  • Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Internship program named one of “Five best internships for real work” in July 27, 2007 Fortune.com story
  • One in three graduating interns will make the transition to become a full-time financial representative for the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.
  • Approximately 38% of Managing Partners are former interns and one in five of the top financial representatives were interns early in their careers.

ü      Other Accolades

  • Northwestern Mutual was ranked as the 2nd best and 3rd largest service company in Selling Power Magazine’s “50 Best Companies to Sell For,” Nov./Dec.2006.
  • In FORTUNE Magazine’s “Most Admired” survey, Northwestern Mutual has collected top honors in the life/health insurance sector for 24 years, including 2007, and is the only company to place first every year it was ranked.
