MARLENE M. FORD - FRENCH HORN

Marlene Ford is a Virginia Beach resident originally from Cleveland, Ohio. Her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is from Ohio State University, and her Master of Music degree in horn performance from Norfolk State University. She is a member of the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera, Williamsburg Symphonia, and Eastern Virginia Brass Quintet. She received the Young Audiences of Virginia Artist of the Year award in 1991. She is currently adjunct French Horn instructor for Old Dominion University and teaches Music Appreciation at Tidewater Community College. Marlene formerly taught for Virginia Wesleyan College, Christopher Newport University and the public school systems of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Birmingham, Alabama, and Mentor, Ohio. In addition to her performance and education achievements she was an Arts Writer for the Virginian Pilot/Ledger Star from 1982-1994.
