Wednesday, October 23, 2013 7:00 p.m. Old Dominion University University Theater, 4608 Hampton Boulevard, Norfolk, VA "Is Public Education Dead? Are Charters and Vouchers the Answer?" Join us for this lecture and discussion with Dr. David L. Kirp, author of Improbable Scholars: The Rebirth of a Great American School System and a Strategy for America’s Schools and The Sandbox Investment: The Preschool Movement and Kids-First Politics. Kirp is a professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley and author of 16 books. From the beginning of his career as a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education, children’s issues have been his passions. He is a recipient of Berkeley’s Distinguished Teaching Award, a graduate of Amherst College and a former trustee of his alma mater and Harvard Law School.
