Scheduling an Appointment

Who should see a CME advisor?

All freshman, transfer, and departmental students who are unsure of what they want to choose as an academic major. CME also works with students who are exploring several major alternatives.

Types of appointments:

First Semester Requirements

All exploratory students entering CME are required to complete the CME three-step process:

Initial Interview

  • Introduces student to their advisor
  • Assesses students interest, abilities, & values
  • Introduce students to exploration tools

Decision-Making Workshop

  • Reviews the Planful Process for decision making
  • Provides students with the tools necessary to research majors and careers
  • Prepares students for pre-registration appointment


Registration Advising

  • Review Major Plan
  • Discuss course options
  • Refer to departmental advisor as needed

Second Semester Requirements

Students remaining with CME for an additional semester must complete two required appointment:

Major Exploration Appointment

  • Review academic performance
  • Discuss exploration progress
  • Refer to additional resources

  • Discuss course options
  • Refer to departmental advisor as needed
