Each year the Center for
Quantitative Fisheries Ecology
collects thousands of pounds of fresh fish for use
in research.
CQFE only uses the hard parts (scales, bones, and
otoliths) and the reproductive organs.
The rest of the fish, the part we eat, is donated to
food banks throughout Hampton Roads.
In 2002, the Salvation Army recognized this effort
with a Volunteer Service plaque.

Captain Paul McFarland,
Administrator of the Salvation Army Hampton Roads
ARC, presents a plaque recognizing Volunteer Service
in 2002 to CQFE's Eric Robillard and Roxanne Torres
