Visiting scientists and students come to CQFE from around the world to learn state of the art techniques in otolith microchemistry, fisheries ecology, and quantitative analysis of populations.


Currently:
Dr. Miguel Palmer of the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies in Islas Baleares, Spain is spending a year doing research at CQFE.

 

 

Former colleagues include:

Nuno Prista spent 18 months studying with Dr. Jones  between 2006-2008, and is now completing his doctorate at the Universidade de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal. [nmprista@fc.ul.pt]

 

 

Joey Ballenger, a current doctoral candidate with Dr. Jones, has taken a position as a Wildlife Biologist with the Marine Resources Research Institute of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

 

 

Dr. Nathan Smith completed a two year post doctoral residency at CQFE in 2006 and is now employed with the Texas Parks and Wildlife.

 

 

Dr. Christian Reiss completed a two year post doctoral residency with Dr. Jones in 2002 and is currently a Research Fishery Biologist with the Antarctic Ecosystem Research team of the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, California. [Christian.Reiss@noaa.gov]

Dr. Brian Wells completed his doctorate with Dr. Jones in 2000 and is currently with the Fisheries Ecology Division of the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in Santa Cruz, California. [Brian.Wells@noaa.gov]

William Thompson completed his M.S. in 2008 and currently works for Texas Parks and Wildlife.

 

 

Dr. Robyn Hannigan completed a post doctoral residency in 2000. Robyn is currently Professor and Chair of the Environmental, Earth and Ocean Sciences Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston. [robyn.hannigan@umb.edu]
