The Old Dominion University Office of Research is dedicated to supporting the work of faculty researchers across six colleges and numerous research centers in a wide range of funded research sponsored by federal agencies, the state and industry. Strategic initiatives include bioelectrics & biomedical research, coastal resilience, cybersecurity, entrepreneurism, maritime, modeling & simulation, spaceflight and STEM education.


The office also oversees research grant development services, research compliance, and commercialization.

Research grant administration is conducted by the Old Dominion University Research Foundation (a separate entity from the university). Their services include pre and post award grant and contract administration as well as hiring and human resource management for funded projects. The Guide to Research Support provides details.
